Akbari Perfume
A unique visual signature based on accords, character, and seasonality
Cherry blossom and rosebud arrive with almost tea-like freshness, bright and slightly tart, immediately undercut by a whisper of something herbal and earthy—the promised tobacco making its first, subtle appearance. Within moments, the powdery accords begin their ascent, softening these initial sharp edges into something considerably more refined.
May rose and mimosa settle into a creamy, talc-adjacent middle where the fragrance reveals its true character as an intensely powdery floral. Jasmine emerges to add depth and a faint animalic warmth, while the creamy accord reaches its peak, enveloping the composition in a soft, almost skin-like embrace that feels decidedly intimate rather than projective.
The base becomes increasingly transparent, with white musk and rice creating a barely-there veil of powder and warmth that clings softly to the skin. Ambrox dissolves into the musk, leaving behind a faint, almost imperceptible whisper of sweetness and earth—a fragrance that seems to vanish rather than fade, becoming part of your second skin rather than a distinct scent.
Havana Tobacco arrives as a curious contradiction—a fragrance that announces itself through delicate florals whilst harbouring something altogether smokier in its DNA. The interplay between cherry blossom's bright, almost candied top notes and the powdery heart of May rose and mimosa creates an unexpected femininity, yet there's a structural integrity here that prevents the composition from becoming merely pretty. Elise Bénat has constructed something deliberately restrained, where the floral accords (100%) establish dominance but the creamy base (76%) softens their edges into something almost whispered rather than shouted.
What makes this fragrance genuinely intriguing is its refusal to deliver what the name promises. The tobacco reference seems less about smoky indulgence and more about an earthy, almost herbal undercurrent—a tonal suggestion rather than a literal recreation. The jasmine arrives late enough in the heart to add a slightly animalic warmth without ever becoming heavy. White musk and rice in the base provide an almost powder-room elegance, whilst ambrox lends a skin-like quality that dissolves rather than projects.
