Katy Perry
A unique visual signature based on accords, character, and seasonality
The pear punches through first, nearly herbal in its freshness, immediately greeted by tangerine's energetic citrus. Gardenia crashes in almost simultaneously, its creamy white florality bleeding into the fruit, creating something that hovers between dessert and skincare—bright, almost fruity-floral, but with that distinctive cosmetic undertone.
Orange blossom emerges as the real star here, turning the composition distinctly honeyed and confectionery, whilst honeysuckle and lily of the valley swirl in attempting to add green powdery relief. The vanilla begins its insistent creep upwards, sweetening everything further until the entire composition feels like it's being dusted with sugar.
What remains is predominantly vanilla and amber with musk providing a skin-scent quality, all that initial pear and citrus energy having evaporated almost entirely. Sandalwood is barely detectable. The fragrance settles into a powdery, slightly soapy sweetness that clings to clothing longer than it clings to skin—a faint reminder rather than a presence.
Meow! announces itself with the kind of unabashed sweetness that feels more like a confession than a fragrance. There's a cheerful candour to this scent—Adriana Medina-Baez has crafted something that refuses to whisper. The opening pear and tangerine arrive with genuine luminosity, crisp and slightly tart, before the gardenia immediately softens those sharper edges into something more pliant and creamy.
What's striking about Meow! is how thoroughly it commits to its gourmand personality without becoming cloying in the opening minutes. The pear-gardenia pairing is the real draw here; there's an almost peachy, slightly soapy quality to this combination that feels distinctly cosmetic, more in line with premium body care than high fragrance art. This is by design. The heart deepens considerably, with orange blossom and honeysuckle creating a honeyed, almost jam-like sweetness that the lily of the valley attempts to temper with its powdery green whisper—a battle the florals largely lose.
