Mandarin and lemon cut sharply through peach nectar, immediately sweet but bracing—it's rather like biting into a candied citrus peel. The pineapple arrives slightly behind, adding tropical weight to what begins as an almost refreshing composition.
Jasmine softens the fruit's sharp edges whilst freesia and lily of the valley create a delicate, almost powdery floral bed. Violet emerges subtly, lending an iris-like dryness that prevents the florals from becoming merely pretty.
Dark chocolate and vanilla emerge gradually, wrapping around creamy sandalwood as vetiver and cedar establish earthy authority. The fragrance becomes genuinely gourmand here—warm, slightly chocolatey, almost gourmand in its final hours rather than fruity.
Tempore Donna occupies a peculiar middle ground between gourmand indulgence and floral elegance—a fragrance that seems caught between two identities, never quite committing to either. The opening announces itself through a triumvirate of citrus fruits, with mandarin and lemon providing sharp, bright counterpoints to the softer stone-fruit sweetness of peach and pineapple. It's an aggressively cheerful opening that doesn't so much bloom as assault.
The heart is where Tempore Donna finally finds some grace. Jasmine and freesia tangle together with lily of the valley's greenish sweetness whilst violet adds a powdery restraint that prevents the composition from becoming cloying. Here, Ursula Wandel's hand becomes apparent—there's a restraint, an acknowledgement that florals needn't shout. The fragrance becomes almost contemplative, a moment of prettiness before the inevitable descent into sweetness.
