Pineapple and blackcurrant explode with genuine vibrancy, the tart berry cutting through the tropical fruit's sweetness whilst bergamot and lime provide citric snap. It's immediately recognisable as fruity and approachable, with an almost candied quality that's difficult to ignore.
Birch and lily of the valley emerge awkwardly, their greenish-white floral character sitting atop rather than melting into the fruit, creating an oddly fragmented middle passage where synthetic aldehydes begin asserting themselves and the composition loses cohesion.
Amber and ambroxan develop warmth whilst patchouli introduces unexpected earthiness, grounding the sweetness into something vaguely sensual, though the overall effect is merely pleasant rather than captivating—a soft, powdery finish that bears little resemblance to the vibrant opening.
Shawq arrives as a peculiar collision between tropical fruit stand and cosmetics counter—initially beguiling, ultimately conflicted about its own identity. The pineapple and blackcurrant opening is genuinely arresting; there's a tart, almost jammy quality where the blackcurrant's dark berry density wrestles with pineapple's sharp sweetness, kept honest by bergamot and lime that prevent the opening from tipping into pure gourmand territory. It's the sort of fruity burst that makes you pause and actually *breathe*.
Yet as the composition settles, Shawq reveals its peculiar weakness: the heart's birch and lily of the valley pairing feels oddly synthetic, as though a white floral has been photoshopped onto a fruit cocktail rather than naturally emerging from it. The transition jars slightly. Where one might expect seamless evolution, there's instead a somewhat disjointed shift, with the fresh florals feeling like they're existing in their own lane rather than genuinely integrating with the fruit's lingering sweetness.
