Calvin Klein
A unique visual signature based on accords, character, and seasonality
The green notes strike first with an almost watermelon-rind freshness, whilst kumquat's sharp, slightly artificial citric edge cuts across pomegranate's deeper, wine-like fruit. There's a momentary discord here, as if two different compositions haven't quite reconciled.
The florals emerge with considerable fluffiness—creamy lotus and pink peony transform the composition into something sweeter, softer, and considerably more conventional. The fragrance settles into a pretty, somewhat anonymous floral-fruity sweetness that could belong to a dozen other mainstream fragrances from this era.
The white amber and blond woods provide minimal warmth, instead allowing the musk to gently push the florals toward skin-scent territory. What remains is largely a soft, slightly powdery whisper of peony and musk, pleasant but barely perceptible—the olfactory equivalent of a passing breeze.
Euphoria Blossom arrives as a peculiar contradiction—a fragrance that wants simultaneously to refresh and seduce, succeeding at neither with complete conviction. Carlos Benaïm's composition opens with a verdant, almost herbaceous burst courtesy of those green notes, immediately tempered by kumquat's tart citric bite and pomegranate's slightly jammy sweetness. It's an uneasy alliance, the kumquat lending a synthetic sharpness that prevents the fruity accord from feeling naturally ripe, instead adopting the character of a high-street cordial concentrate.
The heart reveals the fragrance's true identity: a resolutely feminine floral arrangement where lotus and pink peony dominate, their creamy, almost soap-like character underpinned by orchid's slightly powdery, indolic whisper. These florals bloom with considerable density, the pink peony in particular lending a confectionery sweetness that transforms the composition into something considerably more gourmand than the opening suggested. This is where the fragrance finds its footing, offering a cohesive, if somewhat dated, vision of early-2000s femininity.
